Our Year 3 Magical Minds Tuition classes give children a head start for the Year 4 11+ preparation course with a focus on reading, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling and mathematic skills and problem solving.
This course follows the concepts taught in the Year 3 curriculum and provides children with an extra stretch to challenge their thinking and support their core understanding of new skills and concepts.
Our Year 3 challenge classes are led by fully qualified primary teachers. Children receive tuition for one hour weekly during term time for the whole year. There are approximately 36 classes altogether.
Assessment
We spend the first half term getting to know your child and assessing their ability, potential and motivation. We always give parents honest feedback and if we have any concerns at the end of this period we communicate them.
Formal written feedback is given at the end of the Autumn and Spring terms.
Home Learning
We provide homework at the end of each lesson to consolidate skills taught. It is a vital part of the learning process. We review home learning progress on a weekly basis and it informs our ongoing assessment. Reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction is essential to develop comprehension and vocabulary. As this is fundamental to success in the exam we provide a comprehensive reading list of suitable material. Our exclusive Book Club is included in our fees to support this.
Class Information
11+ classes are held at Abbotsbrook Hall in Bourne End on Saturday mornings.
2024/2025
9.45am-10.45am on a Saturday morning.
2025/2026
12.45pm - 1.45pm on a Saturday afternoons.
Guaranteed place for the Year 4 course
Children who complete our 25/26 Year 3 course are guaranteed a place onto the 25/26 Year 4 preparation course.
A deposit of £100 will be collected to secure your child’s place. This will include all of the resources your child needs to complete the course and their Welcome pack
Classes are £35 a week which includes a 30 minute book club zoom call every month with all the book club resources.
